Steve C - Keyboard, Organ, Harmonica

Steven E. Chavoustie, M.D, Original Miami native

Studied classical piano from ages 6 -13 under the legendary EMILE S. WERN, before getting the bug to jump ship, play the blues and classic rock. My engineering brother John and I built a HeathKit VOX organ from a kit and soon I was jamming. Emulating Ray Manzarek, I would spend hours, days and months perfecting his mastery of playing thirds on Light My Fire, Riders on the Storm and L.A. Woman. I started my first band in 7th grade and have been playing the scene since 1968.

My parents supported music, by allowing 6 teens to practice every Saturday at their home. The noise left me to believe that my mom and dad were definitely deaf.

Throughout college and medical school I continued to play the (real old) South Beach scene in various piano bars along Collins Avenue. During the late 80s, while practicing OBGYN in the Air Force, I formed a MIDI duet called "Baby Briefs" with the legendary guitarist, Dave Brodsky. We took the concept of MIDI to another level with sequenced drums, bass, horns and vibes all while layering our live keyboard and guitar tracks down.

In 1989, after my tour of duty with the Air Force, I recruited and resurrected several various bands such as “Doc Rock, The Members, and Pulse. Together with lead singer Ron Sancetta we played the cover scene in Miami from Little Hoolies to Tobacco Road.

I joined Nightscape in 2002, while looking to form a jazz trio and soon realized the eclectic mix of R&B, Blues, classic rock and jazz is cool to play.

I have a busy family with my wife and four children who are all musically talented.
My professional life is balanced between directing clinical studies and writing clinical protocols, teaching and mentoring medical students and providing medical care to the needy.

My musical equipment is a Yamaha P 80 keyboard, with a Roland keyboard amp, a Hammond XK3 organ with an external Leslie speaker. This enables me to switch from blues, jazz and classic rock with lightning speed while performing.

Keyboard influences during my career: Santana’s Tom Coster, Door’s Ray Manzarek, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder and of course Emile Wern.

The chemistry among the Nightscape band is invigorating and exudes every time we perform live.
COME FEEL OUR FUN!!!

Steve G - Bass, Flute, Piano

STEVE G – BASS with Occasional; PIANO, FLUTE and GUITAR

Steven R. Goldberg

Grew up in New Rochelle, N.Y. Studied classical music, clarinet, from age 6 – 12, played in orchestra and jazz bands. Found clarinet bad for the social life and took up the guitar then bass guitar. High School band called Electric Chair mixed strangely with playing on sports teams but improved my social life, although not with the cheerleaders.

After graduating from Columbia with degree in Anthropology, did the logical thing: a rock band. Played bass with a group based out of Boston called Dangerfish which included Walter Egan who went on to “Magnet and Steel” fame. Played with and wrote songs for Janice Seigal who later went on to Manhattan Transfer fame (had a nice chat with her this past spring). Got a song published by a well known publisher…my earning statement has negatives. Took the hint and finished my MBA from New York University.

Business career revolves around finance. Started in banking in New York; went to large companies in New York and Princeton, N.J.; came to Miami eighteen years ago. Ultimately became a senior officer for large public companies, then spent some time as a partner in a private equity firm. Currently, involved in middle market businesses and started teaching finance at University of Miami.

Gig instruments include: Fender Precision Deluxe (2000); Fender Jazz (1972); Ampeg and Fender cabinets; Fender Bassman (1963) called Gretchen; Gemeinhardt flute, Guild D35 acoustic; borrow Steve C.’s keyboard but play a Kawai grand piano at home; Nicolo Magenti upright bass.

Speaking of home, I am blessed with a wonderful family all of whom play: Ellie, my wife plays piano (she accompanies flute or clarinet with me and cello for my youngest son); Peter my oldest son, 19, plays guitar and has sat in with Nightscape three times; and, my youngest son James, 17, plays cello, bass, guitar, piano and ukulele.

Musical roots and influences intertwine with all our band members…from Blues to Beethoven, Rock to Rach, Moody Blues to Miles Davis, and lots of Bonnie!

Ron - Lead Singer

Ronald Sancetta,M.D.’s Bio

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y to parents of Sicilian descent; in my family, everybody sang. I was influenced by my mom and dad, who would spontaneously burst into song for no reason what-so-ever. They continued singing duets even as senior citizens. My role was the privilege of singing at most family functions, especially during the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas. My brother-in-law Paul, would play piano or guitar and I would sing everything from Italian opera, Sinatra, Barry Manilow, and Billy Joel.

In 1989, I Met Steve Chavoustie, who was recruiting for a lead singer with a newly formed band. I auditioned and have been singing in bands with Steve ever since.

We started with Doc Rock which later became The Members. Then afterwards we started our own band called Pulse doing mostly classical rock and roll. We later had the opportunity to join Nightscape and it was nice to add styles of Jazz and Blues, in addition to classical rock and roll to our repertoire. Music is a vital and valued part of my life. With all of the stresses associated with a busy Ob/Gyn medical practice, there is nothing better than a night making music with the band. Look forward to it every week. There is no greater thrill than getting the crowd going and bringing joy to people through song and music.
I attended Fordham Prep, Fordham University, and then Georgetown University School of Medicine. My residency training was in Ob/Gyn in Massachusetts. My first clinical experience was working as an Ob/Gyn doctor in the Public Health Service for three years. Following this, I then started a private practice in Miami in 1989.

Other hobbies include: growing many varieties of fruit trees and exotic plants, maintaining salt water aquariums, scuba-diving, working out, and traveling. Hope that music will always be a part of my life and will continue to have the opportunity to bring joy to others through music, and also raise donations to important charities at the same time.

Harold - Drums

Harold Norman,Texas born, Miami raised
“At an early age I recognized the benefit of creating a series of diversions in order to avoid responsibility”.

I’m tone deaf…
Around age twelve, while attending Westminster Christian School, drums just sort of appealed to me. I gathered with little effort, one could pass as a drummer, reap the benefits of incorporating a discipline and unlike other instruments, fake it while never needing to worry about the hassle of real dedication or talent.

The trouble with priorities… in retrospect often you find you had them out of order.
In 1983 the World Renown Black Diamond Gulliver Preparatory High School Band disbanded. Our last set consisted of a tiresome rendition of 2112, Grand Funks “American Band” and several songs by Led Zeppelin. Songs that were daily radio play consisted of Thomas Dolby’s “She blinded me with Science” and BowWowWow’s “Do you want to hold me”… “ I did, she looked good in a Mohawk”. Late into the summer of 1983 I decided any school in Colorado that offered skiing as an elective would be both economical and in keeping with my priorities. Unplugging, storing and set aside dreams for our musical group was all but forgotten but still a greater loss was the sharing and learning of music with friends.

Just grow up already…
While dabbling in some yet undecided academic in Mesa CO, to UC and on to Berry University I found a niche as a Fantastic Starter, Conceptual Thinker. In 1992, NormaSkin Labs, TM. was created as a supplement and topical product line. Briefly marketed on 10000 radio stations daily while hitting ten million paid print subscribers and even one of those national cheesy infomercials I soon became bored. Medical Evac. was formed in 1994 as an Air Ambulance company brokering between facilitators and insurance groups. In 1998, I co-formed Property Solutions as a direct real estate buyer and seller of residential properties dealing primarily with other investors. Currently I co-own the CNS Group LLC., that operates as a property management and holding company.

What comes around…does what?
A few years ago a close friend asked if I would sit in for one of their practices, “sure” I said without appreciating the significance of accepting his offer. Instantly the enjoyment of playing hit me all over again, really it was an indescribably good feeling that is shared by far too few.
